Jamaat to Contest in 215 Seats!
Relevant sources confirmed this seat-sharing arrangement on Tuesday, January 20, the final day for the withdrawal of nominations.
Initially, Jamaat-e-Islami had planned to field candidates in 179 seats. At that time, 47 seats were allocated for Islami Andolan, while the remaining seats were to be distributed among NCP, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Khelafat Majlish, LDP, AB Party, BDP, and Nezame Islam Party. However, as Islami Andolan ultimately did not join the alliance, their designated seats were redistributed among the other partners. Consequently, the number of Jamaat’s own candidates has risen to 215.
According to the new distribution, the NCP has secured 30 seats, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish 23, and Khelafat Majlish 12. Some seats have also been kept open for other partners. Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department of Jamaat, stated that the final and official details of the seat-sharing will be formally disclosed after the deadline for nomination withdrawal expires. Political analysts believe that this consensus has further consolidated the electoral strength and strategic position of the 10-party alliance.
