Asif Mahmud Expresses Deep Concerns Over Fairness of Upcoming Election
He specifically pointed out that on January 18, two NCP members were issued show-cause notices for conducting a campaign in favor of a referendum, questioning how such an advocacy effort could be deemed a violation of the electoral code of conduct.
Furthermore, Asif Mahmud accused the authorities of double standards, noting that while other political parties are openly campaigning with symbols and banners without consequence, the NCP is being unfairly targeted. He highlighted a recent instance where a party chairman’s arrival was celebrated with posters across the country, suggesting that if rules were applied equally, that party should have been penalized. Demanding the immediate withdrawal of the notices against NCP members, he called for a public explanation from the administration regarding these discriminatory actions. Asif Mahmud reiterated that while his party supports necessary reforms, a level playing field must be ensured for a credible election.
