A large number of activists from the central committee, Dhaka Metropolitan North and South branches, and various police station units participated in the demonstration. By 11:00 AM, JCD Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir took their positions in front of the commission building.

During the protest, Rakibul Islam Rakib stated, "The decision to besiege the Election Commission was finalized yesterday. There are multiple reasons behind this. The commission’s decisions regarding postal ballots and the influence of a specific political group have already become evident."

He further added, "The primary goal of today's program is to ensure accountability. If the Election Commission does not move away from coercive decisions and the influence of specific groups, we will announce even tougher programs in the future."

The JCD is holding this protest based on three primary allegations:

  1. Biased and Questionable Decisions: Regarding the management and regulations of postal ballots.

  2. Undermining Independence: Accusations that the commission is sacrificing its professional independence under pressure from a specific political group.

  3. Controversial Notification: The issuance of an unprecedented and controversial notification regarding the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) student union elections.

JCD leaders alleged that these decisions are severely damaging the neutrality of the electoral process and the practice of democracy.
