Islami Andolan Snubs Jamaat-led Alliance's Press Briefing; Final Stance Tomorrow
Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, the party's central publicity secretary, confirmed their non-participation late Thursday night, signaling a deepening rift within the coalition.
The alliance, which was expected to showcase a unified Islamist front, may now shrink to a 10-party coalition as IAB stays away over unresolved seat-sharing disputes. To clarify its official position regarding the electoral alliance and the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, Islami Andolan has called for its own press briefing at its central office in Purana Paltan at 3:00 PM on Friday.
Earlier in the day, leaders of 10 other parties met at Jamaat’s central office in Maghbazar without any representation from IAB. Although Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, expressed optimism about maintaining unity, IAB's decision to boycott the formal candidate announcement indicates a major setback for the coalition's "one-box" strategy.
