He made these remarks on Tuesday afternoon following a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission (EC) headquarters in Agargaon. "BNP has always advocated for qualitative reforms of the state. We have already proposed increasing the number of reserved seats for women in the National Parliament," he said.

During the meeting, the BNP delegation also raised concerns regarding the cancellation of candidacies. Nazrul Islam Khan alleged that despite constitutional provisions allowing those who renounce dual citizenship to contest, Returning Officers are disqualifying candidates in various places. He urged the EC to ensure that such legal matters are not over-complicated.

The four-member BNP delegation included Chairperson’s Adviser Ismail Zabiullah, former EC Acting Secretary Mohammad Zakaria, and BNP leader Ruhul Quddus Kazal. The CEC, along with other election commissioners and the EC Secretary, were present during the discussion.
