Why Tasnim Zara Left NCP: She Explains
Dr. Zara stated that the existing political and administrative system in the country suffers from very weak accountability, and decision-making processes are often complicated. “Everyone will act according to their responsibility, which depends on their superior,” she explained.
She further emphasized that the long-discussed reforms must not remain at the discussion stage but need to be implemented effectively. Those in power must also be held accountable.
Dr. Tasnim Zara added that the people want change and are no longer willing to accept the old political arrangements. “It is this desire for change that led me to leave NCP and contest the election as an independent candidate,” she said.
On December 27 of last year, Dr. Zara announced on her verified Facebook page that she would participate in the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9. Previously, she had planned to contest the election as an NCP candidate.
