Speaking at the inauguration of ‘Police Week 2026’ at the Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday morning, May 10, 2026, the Prime Minister remarked that the successful conduct of the 13th National Parliamentary Election has proven that the force is fully capable of maintaining high standards of professionalism and efficiency when provided with a supportive environment. Under the theme "My Police, My Country, Bangladesh Above All," the Prime Minister inaugurated the four-day event by inspecting a colorful parade and receiving salutes from various contingents. During his address, he paid solemn tribute to the heroic police officers who sacrificed their lives at Rajarbagh on the night of March 25, 1971, and pledged that his government would ensure that law enforcement is never again used as a tool for fascism or autocracy against the citizens of the country.

The Prime Minister emphasized that following the student-led mass uprising of 2024, the expectations of the people from the current democratic administration are exceptionally high. He noted that a society free from the culture of fear, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings is the primary demand of the nation, and the police must play a pivotal role in establishing such a secure environment. Highlighting the international reputation of the force, the Prime Minister lauded the success of Bangladeshi officers in United Nations peacekeeping missions, where they have set examples of bravery and compassion. He urged the force to replicate that same level of professional and humane behavior within the country to earn the full trust and confidence of the people. While acknowledging the challenges of the current transition, he reiterated that building a justice-based, self-reliant, and democratic state is impossible without a reliable police force that stands by the people in their time of need.
