The President of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, Helal Uddin, confirmed this decision in a video message on Thursday (May 7).

While the association had initially requested permission to stay open until 11 PM, the government approved a deadline of 10 PM to balance commercial needs with energy conservation. Business owners have been strictly instructed to avoid any decorative lighting or unnecessary electricity consumption during these extended hours. This adjustment follows a period of restricted hours since early April aimed at tackling the national fuel and energy crisis.
