On Thursday, May 7, 2026, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Bobby Hajjaj, unveiled this plan during a consultation meeting at the Secretariat with representatives from the country's leading footwear manufacturers and corporate houses. According to the plan, the first phase will cover approximately 100,000 first-grade students from two government primary schools in each upazila. The State Minister noted that the country's large corporate entities will fund this project as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a specific consistency in the quality, style, and standards of the shoes to ensure that no discrimination or sense of inequality is created among the children.

To ensure the proper implementation of this initiative, the State Minister has directed the formation of a Technical and Quality Standard Committee. This committee will include experts from the Ministry, the Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology, engineering universities, and representatives from partner organizations. The primary responsibility of this committee will be to ensure that the design and quality of the shoes meet international standards. By providing durable and comfortable footwear, the government aims to encourage school attendance and foster a positive learning environment for young learners. This initiative marks a significant step toward improving the welfare of primary students and enhancing their overall educational experience through public-private partnerships.
