Launch Fares Hiked Following Fuel Price Surge: New Rates Effective Immediately
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Shipping on Wednesday, the fare for distances under 100 km has been increased by 18 paisa per kilometer, while for distances exceeding 100 km, the hike is 14 paisa. This translates to a 6.49% increase for shorter routes and a 5.88% increase for longer journeys.
Although the notification was released on Wednesday, the new rates are effective retrospectively from Tuesday. This decision follows a similar move last Thursday, where diesel-run bus fares were increased by 11 paisa per kilometer. The rising cost of fuel continues to impact the transport sector, placing an additional financial burden on daily commuters.
