Home Minister Orders BGB to Heighten Border Surveillance to Prevent "Push-In"
During a press conference on the concluding day of the four-day Deputy Commissioners' (DC) Conference on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Minister stated that while the likelihood of large-scale infiltration remains low, the BGB must remain alert to handle any evolving situation effectively. Alongside border security, the Home Ministry issued several directives to district administrators, including an order to identify and list politically motivated or harassing cases within the next month. Additionally, DCs were tasked with compiling a list of cases filed during the July movement and taking decisive action to recover licensed firearms that have now become illegal.
In a move to protect social order, the Minister announced the formulation of new laws to combat the rising menace of drugs and online gambling. He emphasized that anti-drug operations will continue unabated and that a rigorous legal framework is being developed to address the severity of online gambling. Furthermore, with the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha approaching, local administrations have been directed to take all necessary measures to ensure a safe and smooth journey for the public. The government’s comprehensive approach during this year’s DC conference underscores a commitment to maintaining national security, legal integrity, and public safety during major festivals and shifting regional dynamics.
