Newly Elected Women MPs of 13th Parliament Take Oath of Office
Following the gazette notification by the Election Commission on April 30, which declared 49 candidates elected uncontested, the Parliament Secretariat organized this ceremony.
Based on the proportional representation system, the distribution of seats saw the BNP-led alliance securing 36 seats, while the Jamaat-e-Islami alliance obtained 13 and an independent alliance secured one. Prominent figures among the BNP inductees include Selima Rahman, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, and Shereen Sultana. From the Jamaat alliance, notable members include Nurunnessa Siddiqua and Rokeya Begum, the mother of July martyr Zarif Abdullah. Additionally, alliance candidates Tasmia Pradhan (JAGPA) and Mahbuba Karim (Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis) also took their oaths. The process began with 49 members as one seat remained vacant due to the cancellation of a nomination during the scrutiny phase.
