Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited confirmed the shutdown in an emergency message issued on Sunday, May 3, 2026. The disruption occurred after a Titas Gas pipeline was accidentally damaged during ongoing development work conducted by Dhaka WASA.

According to Titas Gas authorities, the damage took place on the Gulshan-Badda Link Road. Supply was promptly disconnected to prevent potential large-scale accidents, fire hazards, or loss of life and property. Technical teams are currently on-site working to repair the leakage. Gas supply will remain suspended in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and adjacent areas until the restoration work is fully completed.

The sudden suspension of gas on a weekend has caused significant hardship for residential consumers, leaving many unable to cook at home. Local hotels and restaurants in these upscale neighborhoods have also reported severe disruptions to their operations. Titas Gas has expressed its sincere apologies to customers for this unexpected and temporary inconvenience, assuring the public that the connection will be restored as soon as the repairs are finalized.
