He made the announcement on Saturday, May 2, 2026, while inaugurating a new police camp in the city's Kawran Bazar area. The Commissioner noted that while no major "top terrorists" are currently active in the city, their associates and those attempting to establish new influence are under strict and constant surveillance.

The DMP Chief stated that the police and intelligence agencies are working in a coordinated manner to curb extortion and drug trafficking, particularly in the Kawran Bazar area. The newly established camp will have a 24-hour police presence, and immediate action will be taken based on specific intelligence. He also mentioned that the manpower at the camp would be increased if necessary. Special drives against extortion and narcotics have already been launched across the capital, resulting in several recent arrests.

Addressing allegations regarding the refusal of cases at police stations, Md. Sarwar advised that if any victim faces difficulties in filing a case, they should directly contact the relevant Zonal Assistant Commissioner (AC), Deputy Commissioner (DC), or senior DMP officials. He assured that any complaints of negligence against police personnel would be investigated with the utmost seriousness. The Commissioner reiterated his commitment to intensifying operations to ensure the safety of Dhaka's residents and to suppress criminal activities effectively.
