Hong Kong Vessel Arrives at Chattogram Port with 26,000 Tons of Octane
The ship anchored at the port’s outer anchorage on Thursday morning, April 30, 2026. This marks the third major shipment of octane to arrive from Malaysia this month. Authorities have confirmed that the discharging process for the fuel is scheduled to commence after midday.
According to official records, two other vessels arrived earlier this month—one on April 8 with 26,000 tons and another on April 17 with 27,000 tons of octane. Including the latest arrival, a total of 79,000 tons of octane has been imported this month alone. With the country’s average daily demand for octane standing at approximately 1,200 tons, this month's massive stockpile is expected to ensure an uninterrupted supply for more than two months.
Nazrul Islam, proprietor of Pride Shipping Line, stated that five more vessels carrying octane and diesel are currently waiting at the outer anchorage. Additionally, three ships berthed at the jetties on Wednesday and have already begun discharging fuel. However, he noted that since there are only three Dolphin Jetties available at the port, it is not possible to provide simultaneous berthing for all vessels. Adverse weather conditions have also slightly hindered cargo discharging operations. Despite these logistical challenges, stakeholders believe there is no risk of a fuel crisis in the market due to these steady imports.
