Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar organized by the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee on National Legal Aid Day 2026, the Minister stated that access to justice is a fundamental right for every citizen. He recalled that the concept of a dedicated legal aid fund for the underprivileged was first introduced in 1994 by former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and the current government aims to expand this vision further in 2026.

The Law Minister also pointed out the disparity in budget allocations, noting that the judiciary's current budget of 2,200 crore BDT is lower than that of some state media outlets. He committed to advocating for an increased budget to ensure that the legal aid program can reach every doorstep. Special guest Attorney General Barrister Md. Ruhul Quddus Kajal urged senior lawyers to volunteer for legal aid cases to assist marginalized populations. Presided over by Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque, the event was attended by Supreme Court judges, high-ranking officials, and prominent members of the legal community.
