According to the official government holiday calendar, the vacation will span from Tuesday, May 26, to Sunday, May 31. The length of the break has been extended by declaring May 26 and May 31 as holidays through executive orders.

Astronomical forecasts suggest that Eid-ul-Adha is highly probable to be celebrated in the Middle East on Wednesday, May 27. As Bangladesh typically observes the festival a day after the Middle East, Eid-ul-Adha is expected to fall on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the country. This alignment effectively opens a nearly week-long holiday window for public sector workers starting from May 26.

Furthermore, there is a unique opportunity for employees to extend this break to a total of ten days. Since May 22 and May 23 fall on Friday and Saturday (weekly holidays), an employee could secure a ten-day continuous vacation by taking just two days of personal or optional leave on May 24 and May 25 (Sunday and Monday). This strategic use of leave would allow government officials to enjoy a massive ten-day leisure period at the end of May, facilitating easier travel and extended family time during the festive season.
