PM Announces LPG Cards to Ease Domestic Hardships for Women
He made these remarks on Monday, April 27, 2026, during the inauguration ceremony of the historic Ulashi-Yadunathpur Canal re-excavation project in Sharsha, Jashore. The Prime Minister expressed hope that this project, which is deeply tied to the memory of the late President Ziaur Rahman, will play a significant role in the agricultural and economic revolution of the region.
Earlier, at around 11:30 AM, the Prime Minister formally inaugurated the re-excavation work by personally participating in the earth-cutting process. During the event, he informed the audience that once the water flow in the Ulashi Canal is restored, approximately 72,000 people in the area will directly benefit from it. The project is expected to have a revolutionary impact on local irrigation systems and the elimination of waterlogging issues. Furthermore, as a special initiative to improve the quality of life for rural women and alleviate the hardships of domestic cooking, he announced a new government plan to distribute "LPG Cards."
The Prime Minister emphasized that the current administration upholds a policy of production-oriented and development-focused politics. He remarked that projects like Ulashi are not merely symbolic but are direct tools for changing the fortunes of marginalized communities. He instructed relevant officials to complete the project with high standards within the shortest possible time. Following the inauguration, he addressed a civic gathering of local citizens and activists organized at the re-excavation site.
