PM Tarek Rahman on First Official Visit to Jashore; Inaugurates Historic Canal Project

The Prime Minister landed at Jashore Airport at 10:15 AM via a scheduled US-Bangla Airlines flight. He was received by the Minister of State for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, Anindya Islam Amit, along with senior BNP leaders. While this is his second trip to Jashore in three months, it is his debut visit as the head of government.

Inaugurating the Ulashi-Yadunathpur Canal Immediately after his arrival, the Prime Minister traveled by road to Ulashi in Sharsha Upazila. At 11:30 AM, he formally inaugurated the re-excavation work of the Ulashi-Yadunathpur Canal, a project deeply associated with the memory of the late President Ziaur Rahman. Following the inauguration, he addressed a civic gathering organized to mark the commencement of the project.

Healthcare and Heritage on the Agenda The Prime Minister's itinerary includes several high-impact engagements:

  • Healthcare Expansion: At 1:15 PM, he is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the long-awaited 500-bed Jashore Medical College Hospital in Jashore city.

  • Cultural Heritage: In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will visit the nearly 175-year-old Institute Public Library, a cornerstone of the region's cultural history.

Public Rally at Jashore Eidgah Following a break for prayers and lunch at the Jashore Circuit House, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman will address a massive public rally at the Jashore Eidgah Maidan at 3:30 PM. Local residents are eagerly awaiting his speech, which is expected to provide directions on the region's long-standing demands and future development plans.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to conclude his visit and fly back to Dhaka at 8:00 PM tonight.
