Responding to a point of order in the National Parliament on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the Prime Minister stated that the decision was implemented two days ago to maintain law and order and ensure public safety. He expressed hope that patrols and emergency responses would no longer be hindered by fuel shortages.

The Prime Minister took the floor after Monirul Huq Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for Comilla-6, raised concerns regarding the murder of a customs official in Comilla and a noticeable decrease in police presence. The MP alleged that police had reduced night patrols under the pretext of fuel rationing, leading to a rise in criminal activities. In response, the Prime Minister clarified, "The concerns raised by the Honorable Member have already been addressed. The embargo or restriction on fuel for the police and other emergency services has been completely removed."

The Prime Minister emphasized that there will be no compromise on public security. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to operate with full vigor as before, with ensured fuel supplies. Notably, austerity measures and rationing had been introduced across various government departments due to the global energy crisis triggered by recent international developments. However, recognizing the critical nature of security and emergency response, these restrictions have now been lifted for these specific sectors.
