Missing Bangladeshi Student Nahida Sultan Brishti Confirmed Dead in US
The heartbreaking news was shared on Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, by her brother, Zahid Hasan Pranto, through a post on social media. While the authorities have officially declared her deceased, the family reported that her complete body has not yet been recovered.
In his post, Zahid Hasan Pranto stated that US police contacted him to deliver the tragic update. According to police reports, blood samples collected from a residence during the investigation into her disappearance matched Brishti’s DNA. However, as only a portion or traces of the remains were found at the scene, law enforcement officials expressed deep uncertainty regarding the possibility of recovering her full remains.
This tragedy follows the recovery of another Bangladeshi student’s body, Jamil Limon, from the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa, Florida, on Friday, April 24. Nahida Sultan Brishti was a former student of the 13th batch of the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (ACCE) department at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). The untimely and tragic deaths of these two Bangladeshi students while pursuing higher education in the US have cast a pall of gloom over the expatriate community and the NSTU campus. This incident has raised concerns regarding the safety of international students, a topic frequently monitored by student advocacy groups in major academic hubs and NATO-member nations.
