Comilla-Dhaka Bus Fares Increase Following Fuel Price Hike
The adjustment follows a national directive from the Ministry of Road Transport, which raised long-distance bus fares by 11 paisa per kilometer after domestic fuel prices surged by as much as Tk 20 per litre earlier this week.
In an emergency meeting on Thursday night, the Comilla District Road Transport Owners Association finalized the new fare structure. Passengers traveling from Shashongacha to Dhaka will now pay Tk 260 (up from Tk 250), while the fare from Jangalia has been set at Tk 220.
Tajul Islam, President of the Comilla Bus Owners Association, stated that the Tk 10 increase is a necessary adjustment to balance rising operational costs. However, the hike has sparked significant frustration among daily commuters at major terminals, with many complaining that transport costs are rising faster than their income. Popular services including Asia Line, Tisha Plus, and Royal Coach have already begun implementing the revised rates.
