Following its initial launch in the capital, the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources announced the expansion on Saturday, April 18, 2026, through its verified social media channels. While the program began with only seven filling stations in Dhaka, it has now grown to include 18 pumps in the capital and key divisional cities across the country.

According to the ministry, the pilot program's expansion now allows motorcycle owners from various regions to register for the system. The newly included districts and regions are: Dhaka (including Metro), Chandpur, Chattogram (including Metro), Barishal (including Metro), Khulna (including Metro), Rajshahi (including Metro), and Mymensingh. Motorcycles registered in these areas can now officially join the 'Fuel Pass BD' ecosystem, with plans to eventually roll out the service nationwide.

Application and Registration Process: To integrate into this smart energy management system, users must follow a specific digital protocol:

  • Download: Install the ‘Fuel Pass’ app from the Google Play Store.

  • Verification: Verify the user's identity via a mobile number.

  • Registration: Input the motorcycle’s registration number and other necessary vehicle details.

  • Security: Set a secure password to finalize the registration.

Energy experts believe that implementing such an advanced digital tracking system—similar to those used in developed nations—will play a vital role in preventing fuel theft and ensuring equitable distribution. The government’s focus on a "Smart Energy" infrastructure is expected to streamline pump operations and provide real-time data on national fuel consumption, particularly during the ongoing regional energy volatility.
