"Highest Ever Fuel Reserves in Bangladesh's History," Assures State
During a visit to Eastern Refinery Limited in Chattogram this Friday, April 17, 2026, State Minister Anindya Islam Amit confirmed that fuel stocks are sufficient to meet full demand for April and May.
Amidst the ongoing Middle East conflict, the government is actively seeking alternative sources, including Malaysia, to import crude oil.
Addressing the long queues at filling stations, the Minister emphasized that there is no reason for panic, as reserves of diesel, octane, and petrol remain high. According to Ministry data, current stocks include over 113,000 tons of diesel and 31,000 tons of octane. The government is prioritizing the agriculture and industrial sectors to ensure economic stability during this global crisis.
