Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed this during a question-and-answer session in the National Parliament on Thursday morning, April 16, 2026. The session was presided over by Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal.

In a written response to a query from MP Md. Monowar Hossain, the Law Minister stated that the administration is highly committed to nullifying cases used by the previous government to suppress political dissent. To ensure a transparent and efficient process, two specialized committees have been established at both the district and central levels.

The first phase began on March 5, 2026, with the formation of a four-member District Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC). The primary responsibility of this local committee is to scrutinize cases within their jurisdiction and submit formal recommendations for withdrawal.

For the final phase of review, the government formed a high-powered six-member Central Committee on March 8, 2026, with the Law Minister serving as its convener. Minister Asaduzzaman informed the Parliament that the Central Committee is currently meticulously examining the recommendations received from the district level.

The Minister emphasized that this systematic screening is aimed at freeing innocent individuals from judicial harassment and restoring the integrity of the legal system. Legal analysts suggest that these steps will help ensure justice free from political influence and significantly enhance national stability. The government aims to expedite this process to provide relief to thousands who were targeted under the prior regime's "suppression tactics."
