Speaking at the inauguration of the Farmer Card distribution in Tangail today, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized that "Bangladesh prospers when its farmers prosper." He revealed a mega-plan to bring 27.5 million farmers under the smart 'Farmer Card' system within the next five years.

To ensure fair pricing and reduce post-harvest losses, the PM announced initiatives to build cold storages and agro-related factories in rural areas. Highlighting the government’s early achievements, he noted that 1.2 million farmers have already benefited from the waiver of agricultural loans up to 10,000 BDT. The Prime Minister also reaffirmed the commitment to excavate 20,000 kilometers of canals to boost irrigation and preserve groundwater.

"This is the time for nation-building," the PM added, inviting all citizens to participate in transforming the lives of the 40% of the population directly engaged in agriculture.
