No Reprieve for Teachers with Fake Certificates, Warns Education Minister
Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milton announced the crackdown on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, during the 11th day of the first session of the 13th Parliament. Addressing a question-and-answer session presided over by Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, the Minister emphasized that the administration is committed to purging the academic sector of academic fraud to safeguard the future of the nation's students.
Responding to a query from Noakhali-5 MP Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, the Education Minister detailed new policies designed to bring financial and administrative transparency to private educational institutions. He confirmed that all future recruitment for private schools and colleges will be processed strictly through the Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA). To further improve academic standards, the Ministry has introduced a "Ranking System" and a "Digital Monitoring System." These platforms will allow the government to directly supervise teacher attendance and classroom performance, ensuring that educational quality remains consistent across the country.
The Minister also highlighted the government’s technological push to modernize secondary education. Plans are currently underway to equip all government secondary schools with multimedia classrooms, provide "One Teacher, One Tab" devices to educators, and ensure universal free Wi-Fi connectivity. To address the persistent shortage of qualified staff, the Ministry is in the process of sending a comprehensive list of vacant positions to the Public Service Commission (PSC) for immediate recruitment. These technical upgrades are viewed as essential steps toward making Bangladesh’s classrooms globally competitive and digitally integrated.
Looking ahead to the next fiscal year, Dr. Milton informed the House that the government will implement an "Impact Evaluation" process across all educational institutions. This evaluation will serve as a qualitative audit to measure the actual effectiveness of teaching methods and institutional reforms. By combining strict legal actions against certificate forgery with advanced digital oversight, the Ministry aims to restore public trust in the education sector. The Minister concluded by stating that the government would not hesitate to take the harshest possible legal measures against anyone found undermining the integrity of the teaching profession.
