A high-level commission meeting, chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner, commenced on Monday morning, April 6, 2026, at the Election Building in Agargaon. The 11th commission meeting features a five-point agenda, with the primary focus on determining the official schedule and logistical arrangements for the reserved seats. This move follows the submission of nominee lists by political parties represented in the parliament, calculated proportionately to their respective general seat counts.

According to official EC sources, there is a strict constitutional and legal mandate to complete the elections for reserved women’s seats within 90 days of the gazette publication of the general election results. Given that the gazette for the general seats of the 13th Parliament was published on February 13, the Commission is legally required to conclude the process by May 14, 2026. However, the EC has indicated a preference for completing the entire electoral cycle well ahead of the deadline to ensure administrative stability and allow the new lawmakers to begin their legislative duties promptly.

In addition to the reserved seats, the commission is expected to discuss four other critical issues, including the ongoing voter list update process and the scheduling of upcoming local government elections. Once the scrutiny of the lists submitted by various political parties and alliances is finalized, the formal election schedule is expected to be announced to the public. Political analysts suggest that these internal deliberations are vital for maintaining the momentum of the newly formed 13th National Parliament as it transitions into its first full legislative year amidst evolving domestic and regional challenges.
