Speaking at a discussion in the National Press Club this Friday (April 3, 2026), Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni stated that the BNP, under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, is fully dedicated to the July Charter. He criticized opposition parties for constantly shifting their demands—ranging from constitutional changes to Proportional Representation (PR) systems—calling these reactions to their electoral defeat.

Moni highlighted that major democracies like the US, UK, and India do not practice the PR system, justifying the government's stance against such "unreasonable" demands. He noted that while the BNP initially had some reservations about the charter, their constructive feedback has been incorporated. The Chief Whip concluded by emphasizing that the charter would be finalized through proper parliamentary procedures to ensure the fundamental rights of all citizens.
