Chief Whip of the Parliament, Nurul Islam Moni, confirmed the decision on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, following the third meeting of the Parliament Committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. He stated that the administration is highly sincere about the reform process and aims to initiate the committee's activities as soon as possible to ensure a more dynamic and effective parliamentary system.

According to the Chief Whip, the proposed committee will include legal experts from both the treasury and opposition benches to ensure a comprehensive and balanced approach to constitutional reform. While the exact number of members has yet to be finalized, Moni emphasized that the formation of the body is a top priority for the current government. He noted that amending certain sections of the Constitution has become essential to strengthening parliamentary democracy and modernizing the state structure to meet contemporary needs.

Nurul Islam Moni further mentioned that the government intends to complete this significant task in the greater interest of the nation by working alongside the opposition. He expressed optimism that the opposition parties would participate actively in the committee, highlighting that the government’s intent is transparent and collaborative.
