Probashi Kallyan Bank Launches Collateral-Free Loans for Migrant Workers
Announced on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the initiative offers eligible applicants collateral-free loans of up to 10 lakh BDT to help them compete more effectively in the global labor market. This scheme is specifically designed to remove financial barriers for those aiming to secure high-wage positions in countries with strict language and skill requirements such as South Korea, Japan, China, and Germany. To ensure transparency and proper utilization, the loan amount will be paid directly to the respective educational or training institutions as tuition fees. Beyond training costs, the fund can also cover initial living and food expenses during the early stages of the candidate's stay abroad.
The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment confirmed that this program aims to create a more professional and capable workforce. Interested candidates must generally be under 40 years old and be residents of the area served by the bank branch where they apply. Applicants are required to provide an official offer letter from a recognized educational institution or training center. The loan carries a competitive annual interest rate with a repayment period of up to three years. By providing substantial financial support without requiring physical collateral, the government hopes to empower youths from financially constrained backgrounds. Officials noted that proper language training significantly reduces workplace challenges and communication barriers, directly leading to higher earning potential for Bangladeshi migrants. This move is part of a broader 2026 national strategy to shift the migration demographic from unskilled labor to a highly skilled and certified workforce.
