Former DGFI Director Afzal Naser Remanded for 6 Days in Delwar Murder Case
On Monday (March 30), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Hasib Ullah Piyas passed the order following a hearing. Earlier, the investigating officer, DB Sub-Inspector Kafil Uddin, presented the accused in court and requested a seven-day remand. The prosecution argued that preliminary investigations found sufficient evidence linking Afzal Naser to the incident, necessitating intensive interrogation to uncover the full mystery behind the killing.
According to the case files, Delwar Hossain sustained critical bullet injuries on July 19, 2024, during an attack on anti-discrimination protesters in the Mirpur-10 area and succumbed to his injuries two days later. Following the incident, the victim's wife, Liza, filed a murder case at Mirpur Model Thana in July 2025. During the hearing, Metropolitan PP Omar Faruk Faruki supported the remand plea, while the defense counsel sought bail and the cancellation of the remand. After considering both sides, the judge finalized the six-day remand to facilitate further legal proceedings.
