The decision was finalized during an emergency online meeting on Friday, chaired by Energy Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam. Under this new directive, government officials will be stationed at filling stations to supervise the distribution of fuel, prevent artificial shortages, and stop illegal hoarding. In Dhaka and Chattogram, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will appoint these officers, while in other districts and upazilas, the responsibility falls to Deputy Commissioners (DC) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO). This strict oversight comes as the government intensifies its "vigilance team" activities to maintain discipline in the energy sector amidst the ongoing Middle East crisis.
