Govt Provides BDT 167 Crore Daily Subsidy on Fuel: Energy State Minister
Speaking at a financial assistance distribution ceremony in Jashore this Friday (March 27, 2026), State Minister Anindya Islam Amit emphasized that despite global instability, the government has no immediate plans to increase fuel prices. He noted that while 80 countries worldwide have hiked energy costs, Bangladesh is prioritizing the stability of food, transport, and electricity prices.
The Minister assured that fuel supplies are secured through April, with plans underway to ensure a 90-day strategic reserve. Highlighting the surge in demand, he mentioned that diesel supply was doubled to 25,000 tons daily ahead of the Eid holidays. Additionally, the Minister reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring social safety net benefits reach the truly deserving, regardless of political affiliation, fulfilling electoral promises.
