Dr. Zubaida Rahman Emphasizes Preventive Healthcare at Melania Trump’s Global Summit
At the invitation of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, Dr. Zubaida joined spouses of heads of state from over 40 countries for the two-day event organized by the White House. The summit, which opened on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the State Department, aims to build international cooperation for child welfare and education.
In her address, Dr. Zubaida highlighted the groundbreaking steps taken by the current Bangladesh government to ensure safe environments, quality education, and healthcare for children. She specifically noted the impact of "Family Cards" and "Farmers' Cards" in improving the quality of life for ordinary citizens. Furthermore, she detailed the expansion of digital education, including providing tablet computers to teachers and establishing multimedia classrooms across the country.
Dr. Zubaida also paid tribute to the foundations of female empowerment in Bangladesh, mentioning the pioneering work of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in promoting girls' education and the visionary steps taken by late President Ziaur Rahman. She informed the global leaders that the current administration is working toward making education for girls free up to the postgraduate level. Following an exhibition of educational technology on Tuesday, Dr. Zubaida is scheduled to attend the summit’s closing session at the White House on Wednesday, March 25.
