Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Unveils Commemorative Stamp for Independence Day 2026
The unveiling took place during a brief ceremony at the Bangladesh Secretariat around 9:30 AM. According to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the Prime Minister arrived at his office at 9:02 AM to commence his daily administrative duties before presiding over the postal department's event.
The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Fakir Mahbub Anam, the Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, Postal Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, and the Director General of the Directorate of Posts, Kazi Asadul Islam. This commemorative stamp is part of a long-standing tradition by the Postal Department to preserve the dignity and historical significance of Bangladesh's national milestones.
The unveiling serves as a formal start to the 2026 Independence Day celebrations, which this year are being held under the theme of "Upholding the Spirit of the July Uprising." Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s presence at the Secretariat on a Wednesday follows a busy week of post-Eid administrative reviews, including the ongoing evaluation of interim-period ordinances and the modernization of Dhaka's traffic management system.
