He stated that when the Pakistani occupation forces launched the heinous 'Operation Searchlight' against unarmed civilians, the entire nation was left in shock. During that critical time, the formal revolt by the East Bengal Regiment in Chattogram and the subsequent proclamation of independence by then-Major Ziaur Rahman from the Kalurghat Radio Station united a confused and hesitant nation. According to the President, this call to action emboldened the people to jump into the armed struggle and sacrifice their lives for freedom.

The President emphasized that our glorious victory was achieved through the supreme sacrifice of millions over nine months of bloody conflict. He urged the younger generation to learn the true history of both the atrocities faced and the heroism displayed by the nation. Highlighting the current political landscape, he noted that voting rights have been restored through a fair election, leading to the formation of a democratic government. To fulfill the martyrs' dreams, President Shahabuddin called upon all citizens, regardless of affiliation, to work together in building a discrimination-free, humanitarian, and self-reliant Bangladesh.
