The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 17). As part of the government’s election manifesto, this pre-piloting project will simultaneously launch in 11 selected upazilas across the country, aiming to formalize support for the agricultural sector.

According to Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, 21,500 landless, marginal, and small-scale farmers will receive an annual incentive of 2,500 BDT directly via mobile banking in the first phase. The Krishak Card will function as a banking debit card, allowing farmers to purchase fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and animal feed. The project covers upazilas including Bogra’s Shibganj, Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa, and Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf, among others. This digital integration is expected to ensure transparency in distributing agricultural subsidies and government aid.
