Anindya Islam Amit, the Minister of State for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, made the announcement during a press conference at the Secretariat today, Sunday, March 15, 2026. The decision comes into effect immediately, restoring normal operations at fuel stations and supply hubs nationwide.

The rationing system was initially introduced as a precautionary measure due to potential supply chain disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, the State Minister reassured the public that the country’s current fuel reserves are at a stable level and there is no immediate risk of a shortage. He explained that the move to lift rationing is primarily aimed at ensuring smooth travel for citizens during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and maintaining an uninterrupted power supply for the current irrigation season.

Despite the rising price of fuel in the global market, the State Minister clarified that the government has no current plans to increase domestic fuel prices. He emphasized that the administration is prioritizing public interest and economic stability over global price fluctuations for the time being. This policy of maintaining price stability and normal supply will continue until further notice, providing significant relief to transport operators and the general public ahead of the festive season.
