‘Fulfilling Pledges Before Voting Ink Fades,’ Says Prime Minister Tarique Rahman
He made these statements on Saturday, March 14, 2026, while inaugurating the government honorarium program for Imams, Muezzins, and other religious leaders at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that this initiative is a direct fulfillment of his electoral pledges aimed at eliminating discrimination against economically marginalized social groups. He noted that after forming the government with the people’s mandate, the BNP-led administration began working to realize its promises "before the voting ink has even faded from the fingernails." He further added that the gathering of Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian leaders at the event serves as a historic "milestone of harmony" and a unique example of communal unity in Bangladesh.
