China Congratulates New Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed

In a congratulatory message sent on Thursday (March 12), Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to strengthening parliamentary exchanges and deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations.

In his message, Zhao highlighted the long-standing friendship and close cooperation that China and Bangladesh have shared across various sectors. He expressed readiness to work alongside the Bangladesh Parliament to enhance friendly exchanges and institutional cooperation between the NPC and its Bangladeshi counterpart. Zhao expressed optimism that such engagement would elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Bangladesh to a new level.

According to state news agency BSS, the Chinese leadership emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering bilateral ties. By reaching out immediately after the Speaker’s inauguration, Beijing has signaled its intent to remain a key development and strategic partner for the newly formed administration in Bangladesh, wishing Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed a successful tenure.
