Kalima Tayyiba Calligraphy Installed in Parliament Hall by Prime Minister’s Directive
The installation was carried out under the direct instruction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, marking a unique shift in the parliamentary aesthetic of the 13th National Parliament.
The directive was issued during the Prime Minister’s first full working day at the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday. While conducting official duties from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, he instructed the relevant branches of the Parliament Secretariat to place the calligraphy in a prominent position above the Speaker's chair. Sources indicate that the Prime Minister had previously discussed this initiative during a meeting with the BNP parliamentary party to reflect the cultural and religious values of the majority of the population.
Members of Parliament attending the inaugural session of the 13th Parliament today, Thursday, March 12, were the first to witness the new installation. The calligraphy now serves as a backdrop for the newly elected Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal.
Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, informed the media that the installation is part of the broader renovation and reform work currently being undertaken at the Parliament Bhaban following the July 2024 mass uprising. This move is being viewed by political analysts as a symbolic gesture to integrate national identity and spiritual heritage into the highest legislative body of the country.
