Speaking at an event for World Wildlife Day 2026, the Minister detailed plans to create 200 hectares of mangrove forests in coastal districts and plant 1.1 million saplings along highways through social forestry. The mission also includes excavating 20,000 km of rivers and canals and phasing out toxic plastics and chemicals to ensure ecological balance.

State Minister for Environment Sheikh Faridul Islam issued a stern warning against illegal fishing using poison in the Sundarbans, emphasizing that such acts will be strictly prohibited. Highlighting the "self-treatment" capabilities of wildlife, he noted that animals play a more significant role in forest conservation than human guards. To ensure long-term sustainability, the government plans to introduce climate-resilient agriculture in southern regions and integrate environmental conservation into the national school curriculum, fostering a green mindset in future generations.
