ICT Chief Prosecutor Orders Internal Probe Over Bribery Allegations Against Former Prosecutor

Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam confirmed the decision on Tuesday, stating that the prosecution team reached this consensus during a recent meeting. He emphasized that the investigation will cover all activities of the tribunal since its reconstitution following the August 5 uprising. "If even a shred of evidence linking anyone to corruption is found, strict action will be taken," he stated firmly.

Addressing the potential damage to the tribunal’s reputation, the Chief Prosecutor admitted that such incidents jeopardize the public's trust and the integrity of the judicial process. The investigation team may also consult with the former Chief Prosecutor to gather further insights into the matter.
