Ministry Launches Special Control Room to Protect Expatriates in Middle East
Following an official order issued on Monday, March 9, 2026, the control room began its operations today, Tuesday, March 10, at 8:00 AM. It will remain active daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM until at least March 16 to monitor the evolving situation and coordinate with labor wings abroad.
The control room is located on the 7th floor of the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in Eskaton, Dhaka, specifically within the Probashi Call Center. A total of 21 officers and 42 employees have been assigned to work in three shifts to maintain continuous support. The overall management of the center is being overseen by Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Director General of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, while Md. Hedayetul Islam Mondal, Deputy Secretary of the Employment-1 Branch, is serving as the focal point officer.
Beyond this temporary control room, the government continues to operate its 24-hour call center at +8809610102030 for any Bangladeshi nationals facing immediate difficulties abroad. According to the Ministry, the primary objective of this unit is to collect real-time data from labor wings in conflict zones and provide logistics support, including medical assistance or repatriation plans if the situation worsens. This initiative follows reports of three Bangladeshi casualties since the start of the conflict, prompting the government to prioritize the "safe-side" positioning of the millions of workers currently residing in the region.
