Muhammad Morshed Hossain Azad, the General Manager of BPC’s Commerce and Operations Division, confirmed that pumping operations from India’s Numaligarh Refinery in Assam have already commenced.

This shipment is part of an urgent government initiative to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country, particularly to support power generation and the ongoing irrigation season during the holy month of Ramadan. Amid global supply chain disruptions caused by the escalating conflict in the Middle East and the reported shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, Bangladesh is prioritizing alternative supply routes to maintain its energy security.
