This directive was issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources on Monday in response to the evolving situation.

The ministry stated that a sudden surge in demand from dealers has made it difficult for marketing companies to maintain a smooth supply chain. This pressure has raised concerns about potential unrest or untoward incidents at several critical locations. The depots identified as 'high-risk' include Patenga (Chattogram), Daulatpur (Khulna), Baghabari (Sirajganj), Godnail and Fatullah (Narayanganj), Parbatipur (Dinajpur), and Barishal.

Given that these depots are Key Point Installations (KPIs), their security is of utmost national importance. This move follows a formal request made on March 7 by BPC Chairman Md. Rezanur Rahman, who emphasized the need for military protection to prevent any disruption in the fuel distribution network.
