Government Declares Public Holiday on March 18 via Executive Order

This decision aims to facilitate smoother travel and extended celebrations for citizens during the upcoming festive season.

However, essential and emergency services will remain exempt from this holiday. Sectors such as electricity, water, gas, fire services, port operations, and telecommunications will continue their functions as usual. Additionally, hospitals, emergency medical services, and vehicles transporting medicine or medical equipment will remain operational. The notification also stated that Bangladesh Bank and the Supreme Court will issue separate guidelines regarding the operations of banks and judicial activities, respectively.
