This decision ensures that government employees and the general public can enjoy a continuous 7-day break, facilitating smoother travel for the millions of people expected to leave the capital to celebrate with their families.

The Updated Holiday Schedule:

  • March 17 (Tuesday): Public Holiday for Shab-e-Qadar.

  • March 18 (Wednesday): New Holiday (declared by executive order).

  • March 19 – March 23: Previously scheduled Eid-ul-Fitr holidays (based on a 30-day Ramadan).

The Ministry of Public Administration noted that without the inclusion of March 18, a single working day would have fallen between the Shab-e-Qadar holiday and the start of the primary Eid vacation, which would have created significant logistical hurdles for home-bound travelers. With this extension, the government aims to reduce traffic congestion and ensure a more comfortable journey for all citizens.
