Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, that the Prime Minister took swift notice of the price hike affecting low-income groups and ordered effective measures to stabilize the market. Early reports indicate that the market has already begun to show a positive response following the government's intervention and warnings against artificial price manipulation.

In an effort to reduce public nuisance and maintain order in the capital, the Prime Minister also ordered the immediate removal of all congratulatory billboards, banners, and posters featuring his photograph. This directive came after the Premier personally noticed several such displays while traveling to his office from his Gulshan residence on Tuesday morning. He specifically pointed out a banner in front of the Police Plaza in Hatirjheel and an LED screen at Bijoy Sarani, instructing that they be taken down instantly. The Prime Minister emphasized that public spaces should not be cluttered with such advertisements, reflecting his administration's focus on a disciplined urban environment.

Maritime Security and Fisheries Protection: During a courtesy call from the Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Haque, at the Secretariat, the Prime Minister provided several key instructions regarding maritime safety:

  • Anti-Piracy Operations: He directed the force to intensify regular patrols in the Bay of Bengal and coastal regions to curb piracy, robbery, and illegal trafficking.

  • Safety of Fishermen: The Prime Minister emphasized the need to ensure the security of fishermen at sea and to protect the nation's valuable fisheries resources.

  • Modernization: He reaffirmed his support for the continuous capacity building of the Coast Guard to meet evolving maritime challenges.

These directives are being viewed as part of a broader "180-day action plan" by the new government to stabilize the economy, restore law and order, and improve essential services for citizens.
